Business Ownership ≠ Entrepreneurship!

entrepreneurship definedAre you a entrepreneur or small business owner? The answer is the difference between business growth or business stagnation.  A small business owner views their business like a job that earn him/her a paycheck.  An entrepreneur, on the other hand, builds their business as an asset that will generate an ongoing cash flow stream as income for them indefinitely on its own without them being their!

So, which side of the entrepreneurship equation are you!!?

Our Definition of Entrepreneurship

A small business owner becomes an entrepreneur  by mastering the skills of the business growth process.  Think of our small business growth model as a roadmap to entrepreneurship.

The business growth model provides skills you must master to accomplish the steps along the way.  In the model there are two sets of factors that directly impact business growth – leadership and management factors.

The leadership factors relate to skills necessary to lead your team to achieve the objectives for each stage of the growth model.  This is the “personal change” and growth that we speak of in step one of the SPARC Business Growth Framework.  As an owner, if you are not ready to tackle the things necessary at your stage of growth, then your business will suffer as a result.  So, personal growth is key to business growth.  This is why leadership topic is a major part of our blog!

The management factors relates directly to business management.  Again, does the company have the business systems, personnel, and financial wherewithal to accomplish what is required at the company’s stage of growth?  Again, if you don’t understand these aspects of management your company’s growth will stagnate.

Entrepreneurship is all about mastering the skills of leadership and management.  If you can achieve this you too will aspire to the title of entrepreneur and have the professional success that you seek!
